Vee's 1st Smoothie Day!
Hey y'all,
My first day of this new diet was definitely challenging. I think I chose a poor day to begin this difficult diet! I had class / work from 9:30am until 8:00pm, and was not home all day to make smoothies for meals. I started my morning with a banana, and decided I was going to wing it in terms of food for the rest of the day (stupid). For lunch I bought an Odwalla Superfood Smoothie, and a cup of carrots & celery. That was about 8 buck$. So not worth it, but I was starvin, and didn't have time to go home to make a smoothie.
Around 5:30-6:00pm I started to get a bad headache and my stomach was empty. I was TA'ing a class so I couldn't leave to get food, and my headache kept getting worse. I never really get headaches, so I knew it was because I hadn't really eaten much during the day. I decided to eat my emergency granola bar I had been keeping in my backpack, so, I cheated in this diet already! but after about two bites I immediately felt better.
Once I got out of class, Ben picked me up and I felt very negative about this whole diet. However, after we got home Ben made some delicious hummus that we ate with the gluten-free rice crackers, and I definitely felt better after getting some more food in my stomach. Ben also made a smoothie soup for dinner, and I snacked on some banana and strawberry for dessert. I may also have eaten a small amount of Easter chocolate.. ;)
I'm no good with diets, but I think I'm going to plan my day out a little better for tomorrow so I won't have to go through harsh hunger pains again!
Ben's First Smoothie day!
Hey guys and squirrels,
I made a smoothie this morning and a smoothie "soup" this evening.
This morning:
-2 leaves of kale
-1 carrot
-2 strawberries
-handful of almonds
-dash of lemon juice
This evening:
-1 leaf of kale
-1 carrot
-1/2 cup of fire roasted tomatos
-handful of walnuts
-1/3 sweet potato
-dash of ginger
-dash of ground black pepper
-dash of garlic powder
This morning I was running short on time so my smoothie was a bit chunky. I had to chew through most of it, however it was not unbearable.
This evening's soup smoothie was actually not as bad as I thought it was going to be. It tasted much better than it smelled.
Also, for a pre-dinner snack, I made hummus with tahini and chick peas and a clove of garlic. I dipped gluten-free onion garlic rice crackers in it and it was delicious!
Overall, a pretty-okay first full day of our new diet.
C U SOON.

First trial smoothie!
Ben just made a little tester dessert smoothie so we could use up a mango that was getting a little soft. It was delish! Very pulpy but I like that.

Here are the ingredients; enough for 2 smoothies:
- 1 mango
- 1 kiwi
- 2 leaves of kale
- 2 strawberries
- a little water
Excuse the poor quality photo (and the word "beer" written on our table..). Just wanted to get a photo of our first smoothie!

Starting Smoothie Diet Tomorrow
Hi everyone!
I'm interested to see how long the food we bought will last. A few days? A week? Here's what we bought in our first fruit & veg haul (that cost us roughly $35.. with a discount!), along with what we had already in our fridge:
I am starting a smoothie-only diet tomorrow, Wednesday April 11th. My boyfriend and I bought a bunch of fruits & veggies for our new diet that will last .. maybe 2 weeks? We'll see how long we can last! We are restricting ourselves to raw food only in our smoothies, with the occasional gluten-free rice cracker as a snack, and quinoa.
